is there a way to attach external animation-only-fbx-files to a xaml-defined model?

Yes, process that animation file with ModelAnimationProcessor, and then create a BoneAnimation from that file in C#. It isn't possible to do that in XAML at the moment though.

have you planned to implement a XAML-based way?

Yes, but it cannot be fit into the timeframe of 1.4 release :)

is there currently a legal way to attach bone-animations to a model without having them all in the base-model-file?

the Animations-property can´t be set from outside and the value is null until at least one animation is loaded within the model load.
