Model or Primitive with multiple textures

Say you have an object that needs to be textured with two different images. You guys have implemented splatting where you can define the multiple images, and then define an additional images to tell where each texture is used.

Now say I have procedurally generated shapes, I'm not going to have an alphamap, but instead the material info will be stored per vertex.

Is there any way in nine to do this? I am working on texture atlasing but I'm just wondering if there is a way to load a couple of textures and be able to reference them from a customMaterialPart, etc.
